In Medias Res – “Red Apples” Video & Update

by New Music Michael on April 10 2013

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about Vancouver’s In Medias Res. But that’s not to say that they haven’t been insanely busy over the last while. Or that we love them any less than we did in 2011, when their album “It Was Warm And Sunny When We First Set Out” was our #7 album of the year.

I got a tweet from the band overnight telling me about their newest track, “Red Apples”, and true to form, it is a freaking phenomenal song. Recorded at Bunker Studios, the track was originally written by Bill Callahan, who some of you may remember better under his stage name Smog, and was released on his 1997 album “Red Apple Falls”. You can stream IMR’s video for the song above.

You can also buy the track on Bandcamp, along with another release from February of this year, “The Center”, which was recorded during the IWWASWWFSO sessions.

According to the band, they are working towards a new album, which will hopefully be available late this year or early next. Based on my love of their last album, I have pretty high expectations. Odds are very good they’ll surpass them.
