East coasters Two Hours Traffic have undergone some serious renovations since their last full-length in 2009. Consider what Rexall Place would have to do in order to compete with the fancy new arena. That level of renovations.
Gone is guitarist Alec O’Hanley. Nathan Gill is in as the band’s new bassist. And the band’s previous bass guitarist, Andrew MacDonald, has slid over to take on guitar duties. They’ve also replaced long-time producer Joel Plaskett, who some credit with the band’s initial breakthrough as well.
They’ve changed up their sound as well for this next release, “Foolish Blood”, which will drop February 19 (Bumstead). A little more bluesy, a little more Motown, a little deeper sound if you will. You can check out the new track “Last Star” below and see what you think.
Two Hours Traffic will also be going on tour to support the new album release, of course, including their label’s showcase in Austin during South By Southwest. For you fellow bloggers hosting your own showcases, I’m betting they might be available for a couple other gigs, get in touch with them yourself or feel free to contact me and I’ll see what I can do to connect you.
Many, many of the dates include one of my favorite Cancon bands, Rah Rah (dates below with both bands are indicated by a *). Who I haven’t seen since last summer in Calgary, so I may head on down to Avenue Theatre and check out the show (FYI their date here in Edmonton, May 4, is one night before Yukon Blonde plays the same venue).
