Below the Fall

by New Music Michael on September 17 2010

Who is Below the Fall?  Yeh, well that’s the question, isn’t it.  The four-piece band from England has yet to play a gig, but has released a two-song EP that is getting all sorts of accolades in various corners of the music blogosphere.

The band is made up of vocalist/guitarist Dan Hunter, guitarist Sam Viscal, bassist Leigh Cruxon, and drummer Alex Breadmore.  The two songs – “Commissioner” and “Just Run Away” – are lushly-recorded tracks (also unusual for a brand new band) that are smooth and lively at the same time.  Their sound is alt-rock (although one could say they come close to hard rock / metal – and their inclusion on Espy Rock would bear that out), with pounding drums and vivacious guitars leading the way to Hunter’s pure vocal style.

Let’s hope we get a lot more from these guys soon, both live and a full-length album.

PS – thanks to Ripple Effect and Espy Rock for pointing me in the direction of these guys.
