My wife and I went to a wedding on the weekend, and based on what everyone was saying, I gathered that the groom (another Michael of all things) is also known amongst his network for finding the new artists in alternative and indie. I congratulated him on his nuptials, and then asked him if he’d mind sending me any new acts he thought were worth listening to. I got his email address, and then he wrote down this artist – Wil Mimnaugh, from Calgary.

Known almost exclusively by his first name “Wil”, he is an phenomenal roots-based singer-songwriter. Wil got his start in Calgary playing local stages, playing covers from the likes of The Verve, Pearl Jam, and the Violent Femmes, and when you combine that with early childhood influences like Hank Williams and Simon & Garfunkel, you get a unique and powerful sound that makes Wil a extraordinary talent.
